Ole’s

+ Project details

Ole’s Inset Murals: A series of murals, including replicas of Diego Rivera’s works, and a portrait of Frida Kahlo, and an original work of a dreamy Calla Lily in front of the river, (referencing the one just beyond the restaurant patio). The series of inset murals are along the outside of the restaurant, and advertising information for Ole’s Guacamoles in Black Mountain, and Mrs. Ole’s Catering & Party Planning are located on the back and side faces of the freezer trailer.

Ole’s On the Go Murals: Renovation of Food Truck exterior, including Cleaning, Sanding, and Flat Black Base over entire exterior, turquoise on the bumper, and a lively row of avocados along each side, with contact information and company name on side of large back panel and front (menu-side).

Ole’s Frida & Floral Forms with Lettering: A large vibrant portrait of Frida depicting her feelings of outward projection of cheer, represented through her colorful clothing, despite her inner feelings of pain from a variety of health conditions throughout her lifetime. We intended to represent this incongruity through the black and white portrayal of her face and body. She is featured in this mural, creating guacamole in a mocajete, enveloped in a larger than life, almost full body halo of avocado halves. Surrounding her are bright floral forms, and silhouettes for the surrounding trees over reflected purple light, reminiscent of the sunsets experienced there together whilst painting on the scaffold, hearing the river along the patio and seeing the lavender light reflecting the silhouettes, as it flowed.

Depicting a vast landscape, ranging from tropical banana trees with their dense blossoming, cascading fronds, approaching silhouette against the bright red and orange sunset over agave fields in Mexico, home place of the owner's husband, to the orange, pink, and peaceful lavender sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains, inspired from the perspectives seem from the land on Town Mountain, where the sweet family who own El Lemon reside and appreciate nature. This mural is located at their incredible, welcoming, cozy and delicious restaurant in Swannanoa, NC.

So very grateful to have had the opportunity to paint together with our incredible, sweet, talented family, wonderful community and friends and to be able to visit with our Little One and appreciate the incredible hospitality and food made with love at El Lemon. Black Lives Matter

+ Project details

Black Lives Matter Outdoor Mural painted for Our Neighborhood by Alday Art Studio, located on Fairview Road, in Asheville, NC. Thankful for our incredible neighbors, and materials from the Earth, Thankyou Universe. Sweetly, our landlord suggested that we put it at the property at the top of the road so that everyone driving down Fairview Road would see it, rather than the all of seven people that drove down our smaller road. Thankful that our Little One could help us, and that he will remember this one day. Hoping that we may donate this to a foundation or organization that will present this within context always.

It is important to preserve art and history which reminds us why we should not repeat ourselves. Throughout history many beings have attempted to edit history, in order to tailor the understanding of humanity to their benefit. Over time, people have tried to collect art, knowledge of natural resources, and seeds, in order to oppress and dominate our planet. With humble gratitude, many beings have their lives to protect these artifacts and knowledge. Twelve people once starved to death while protecting “edible” seeds collected from thousands of species of berries and plants we know today, carefully stored underground, whilst Leningrad was bombed and resources were not permitted to the city for three years. After the siege of Leningrad, it was found to have miraculously survived. My own great grandfather was once shot on the steps of the courthouse for creating a school for African Americans at the time.

There is a deep-seated history of the editing of history, knowledge, and creativity in order to create a presentation of reality which keeps you from realizing your own power, your own self, your creativity, your magic. For those interested in further contributing to ways for the world to work for one hundred percent of the people, without the degradation of any species or resources, research the Buckminster Fuller Institute. We are humbly grateful to contribute in this very small way to our perspectives. Within it all, is understandings of unity consciousness, which brings grounding to us all, and highlights the ultimate connection of consciousness. Please appreciate your every now, and care for this world with all your heart. I had intended to put positive affirmations around the edges: Kindness, Cheer, Magic, Creativity, Joy, Care, Integrity, Intelligence, Emotional Intelligence, Compassions, Vision, Energy.

*Sending Peaceful Blessings to George Floyd, his family, and all going through anxiety and depression. Sending strength, compassion, cheer, and joy, Infinitely Always. Thankyou all for standing up for what you believe and know to be true in your Heart. Wishing you all a sweet, wonderful, magical, and grateful now always. ~Alday Art Studio

Removal of previous window mural using chemicals and scrapers. Cleaning and buffing of the window surface to prep for new window painting. The new window mural depicts an agave landscape, reminiscent of the owners hometown, Arandas. The mural included research and depiction of plant and animal species native to the region, to create a flowing arid countryside that extends to a tropical forest, dense with orchids and ferns, through which the river connects it all. Lastly, a brush on varnish application.
